This month has brought a lot of changes for some of us at Tribe Alive. These changes transpired because we believed they would happen despite our personal fears, hesitations and obstacles. By believing whole-heartedly that things would fall into place, we saw a new world unfold before our eyes. Believing swings open the door of hope within our minds and hearts when we choose to weave it into our daily vocabulary. Looking back on the events that unfolded in June, we couldn’t think of a better word to discuss than “believe.”
When we started to dive deeper into the definition of believe, we realized we have never truly thought about what the word meant. It’s a word we use often and loosely so the value and meaning is often lost. If we had to guess, believe is used nearly as often as love. So, what does it mean to believe?
According to the Online Etymology Dictionary, believe can mean, “to hold dear, love, desire, and care.” From Old English, Old Saxon and Proto-Germanic, the meaning stays the same.
When we choose to believe, we choose a path of positive uncertainty. Believing pushes us forward into unknown places that change our lives. We crave the phrase “I believe in you.” The more we hear it, the more it motivates us to make beliefs a reality. Even if the reality looks different than what we originally intended, it still resembles some of the truths that were not true before.
At Tribe Alive, we choose to believe. When we travel to work with our artisan partners, the word believe is always in our vocabulary. When you believe in something or someone so passionately it fuels motivation. Our founder Carly believed in the truth of Tribe Alive and now, here we are, expanding, teaching and providing. Our believing has carried, molded, refined and humbled us. It’s remarkable to look back at where we were and marvel at where we are now. “Believe” us, a little believing goes a long way!
